Welcome to the terms of use governing access to StudentBoard™
We ask you to accept these terms of use when you register with the site, but we also take it that you agree to these terms of use when you access and use the site generally. They form a legally binding agreement between you, as a visitor tostudent-board.com and/or a member of StudentBoard™, and Freeway Agency Limited.You should read them carefully.
1. Membership
To register as a member of StudentBoard™ you must be 18 years of age or older and currently studying at one of the universities identified here , which StudentBoard™ considers to be the top universities in the world. If you are under the age of 18 or are not studying at one of these universities, you are not allowed to register with and become a member of StudentBoard™ or to access student-board.com . By registering as a member, you represent and warrant that you are 18 years of age or older and studying at one of these universities and that all of the other information that you provide to StudentBoard™ is accurate and not misleading. When you end your studies at one of these universities you must also stop using student-board.com . StudentBoard™ reserves the right, in its sole discretion, to terminate your membership effective immediately for any reason, with or without notice. You may also terminate your membership at any time for any reason by notifying StudentBoard™ .
2. Your use of the site
All StudentBoard™ members and other visitors to student-board.com must abide by the following rules in relation to their access to and use of the site:
(a) You must only make lawful use of student-board.com.
(b) You must not use or access the site in a way that causes, or is likely to cause, the site to be damaged, its performance to be impaired or access to the site to be interrupted or hindered.
(c) You may not use or access student-board.com, or any materials displayed on the site, for any commercial purpose. This includes, but is not limited to, posting or sending to other members advertisements, commercial messages or solicitations for products or services.
(d) You are responsible for any photographs, text or other materials that you may upload to the site for sharing with other members. You must not upload to student-board.com any materials, or make statements through the site, or post links to other websites which contain materials which are inaccurate or misleading, defamatory, disrespectful, insulting, abusive, obscene, sexually explicit, vulgar, or which tend to incite racial or other hatred or infringe the proprietary, data protection, privacy or other rights of any person, or are otherwise illegal. You must not use student-board.com to harass any StudentBoard™ member or other person. See also Member-contributed content, below.
StudentBoard™ reserves the right without notice to remove from the site any photographs, text or other materials which violate these rules or which StudentBoard™ otherwise considers to be inappropriate. You must indemnify StudentBoard™ against any loss, liability or cost we may incur as a result of a breach of these rules or, generally, because we make available to other members photographs, text or other materials that you upload to the site.
3. Member-contributed content
To the fullest extent permissible by law, StudentBoard™ disclaims any responsibility for the content of materials uploaded to student-board.com by the members. StudentBoard™ does not routinely review such materials and does not accept any obligation to do so or to modify or remove inappropriate, infringing or other unlawful content (although it reserves the right to do so) except where it is required to do so by law. Please promptly inform StudentBoard™ if you become aware that any materials have been posted to the site in breach of these terms of use.
4. Links to other sites
This site carries some links to other websites which are not operated by StudentBoard™ . You should be aware, before clicking on those links, that StudentBoard™ is not responsible for the content, privacy practices or any other aspect of those other sites.
5. Copyright and other intellectual property rights
The copyright and all other intellectual property rights in this site belong to StudentBoard™ or its licensors. You grant us a royalty-free, irrevocable licence to use, copy and publish on the site any photographs, text or other materials that you may upload to the site for sharing with other members. You may view and print materials on the site and make reasonable personal use of those materials, including reasonable copying. You may not use framing techniques to display this site, any part of it, or any other proprietary materials of StudentBoard™ . You may create hyperlinks to thestudent-board.com home page as long as the link does not use our logos or graphics and does not refer to StudentBoard™ or any person or website associated with StudentBoard™ in a manner which is false, misleading or derogatory.

“student-board.com” is owned by City & Law, a service brand name of Freeway Agency Limited. All other trademarks not owned by Freeway Agency Limited that appear on this site are the property of their respective owners.

Nothing in these terms of use affects your statutory rights as a consumer or any liability that StudentBoard™ may have as a result of fraudulent misrepresentations or for death or personal injury caused by negligence.
We do not warrant that this site will be available at any particular time, that its functions will work in a timely fashion or any other particular way or at all, or that it will be free of errors, viruses or similar items. We make no warranty at all regarding Member-contributed content. We may withdraw this site, or any part of it, at any time, temporarily or permanently. We are not responsible for any failure arising because of circumstances beyond our reasonable control. While we seek to ensure that the information that we display on the site is accurate we do not make any warranty that it is accurate. We also disclaim any other implied warranties or conditions regarding this site and any services provided through it, including conditions of fitness for a particular purpose or satisfactory quality, to the extent that these warranties and conditions can be disclaimed by law.
StudentBoard™ will not be liable, in contract, tort or on any other basis, for any:
loss or damage incurred as a result of third party claims; loss of profit, goodwill, business opportunity or anticipated saving; or indirect or consequential loss or damage, under or in connection with this site or any services provided through it.

We may make changes to these terms of use and/or the site’s privacy statement at any time and for any reason. You will be bound by the versions of these terms of use and the site’s privacy statement displayed on the site when you use the site.
11. These terms of use are governed by English law. You and we each submit to the non-exclusive jurisdiction of the English courts in relation to any dispute which may arise in relation to this site or these terms of use.

13. student-board.com is operated by Freeway Agency Limited. Freeway Agency Limited is established in England and its processing of personal information in relation to student-board.com is regulated by English data protection law (principally, the Data Protection Act 1998).
14. What information does StudentBoard™ collect?
(e) User profile and other personal information: StudentBoard™ members provide StudentBoard™ with information about themselves (name, email address, age, etc.) through the member registration process. From time to time we also invite members to provide information through other parts of the site – for example, where StudentBoard™ or a partner sponsors a promotion, sweepstake or competition through the site.
(f) Member-provided content : StudentBoard™ also allows members to upload profile information (regarding personal interests, gender, age, education, occupation, etc.), and other materials which may include personal information about themselves or others, to the site so that they are available to other members or, in the case of friends’ email addresses, can be used to invite them to join StudentBoard™ . We host these materials and make them available on behalf of our members. We do not make any use or disclosure of this information in our own right unless we are required by law to do so, however, and we are not responsible for the content of or access to this information. Each member must, however, abide by StudentBoard™ ’s terms of use and all applicable data protection and other laws in relation to personal information that he or she uploads to the site, and we reserve the right to remove personal information from the site in our discretion and, in particular, will remove friends’ email addresses if they so request.
(g)Non-personal information: StudentBoard™ also collects the individual identification numbers, known as an “IP addresses”, of the computers used by visitors to the site. IP addresses are automatically logged by StudentBoard™ ’s web servers. They are used, together with further information about visits to the site, to note a visitor’s interest in the site and for statistical purposes. They do not allow us to identify the visitor unless he or she chooses to submit personal information to the site.
The remainder of this privacy statement deals with personal information that we collect through the site and hold in our own right. It does not deal with Member-provided content, for which the contributing users are responsible; nor with Non-personal information, except where it relates to registered users who are therefore identifiable by StudentBoard™ . Members should be aware, however, that when they contribute Member-provided content to StudentBoard™ they are making it available to, potentially, a wide audience, who may use it for any purpose.
15. What uses does StudentBoard™ make of personal information?
(a) StudentBoard™ uses personal information collected through the site to authenticate users, to provide services through the site, to tailor and improve those services and to administer our member relationships.
(b) StudentBoard™ may also use contact details collected through the site to send members[updates, newsletters or other communications regarding student-board.com and the services available through the site. A member can choose not to receive these communications at any time (go to Account Settings).
(c) From time to time, StudentBoard™ or a partner may sponsor a promotion, sweepstake or competition through the site. Where StudentBoard™ or a partner collects personal information from members for the purposes of a promotion, sweepstake or competition we will explain the purposes for which the information will be used, whether it may be disclosed to third parties, etc., at the point of collection.
16. In what circumstances does StudentBoard™ share personal information?
StudentBoard™ treats personal information collected through student-board.com as confidential. We may, however, share this personal information:
(h) with service providers assisting StudentBoard™ with the hosting or maintenance of the site or otherwise providing services to StudentBoard™ ;
(i) with affiliates of Freeway Agency Limited;
(j) with prosecuting, regulatory or other governmental agencies where we are required to do so by UK or other law or regulation;
(k) where we consider that disclosure of personal information is necessary (for example, to courts or the other parties to a dispute) in order to enforce the terms of use or generally to establish or protect StudentBoard™ ’s legal rights; and
(l) in connection with a promotion, sweepstake or competition, in circumstances explained at the point of collection.
StudentBoard™ has appropriate technical and organisational security measures in place to prevent other disclosures of its members’ personal information, other unauthorised or unlawful processing and accidental loss, destruction or damage. Members should be aware, however, that the Internet is by its nature not a secure medium and we cannot therefore give an absolute guarantee of security.
17. Does StudentBoard™ transfer personal information between countries?
StudentBoard™ is a global community. Personal information collected through the site may be transferred to any country or territory in the world, including countries or territories (such as the US) which do not have data protection laws as strong as those in (for example) the European Union. Personal information controlled by StudentBoard™ will, however, remain subject to English data protection law irrespective of the country or territory in which it may be hosted.
18. Does StudentBoard™ use cookies?
student-board.com uses “cookies” – small amounts of data downloaded to visitors’ computers on the basis of the information collected about their visits – to simplify log-in for returning members, store visitors’ preferences, record session information, ensure that visitors are not repeatedly offered the same advertisements, and customise newsletter, advertising, and Web page content based on browser type and user profile information. Visitors will generally be able to configure their browsers to accept or reject all or some cookies, or notify them when a cookie is downloaded – each browser is different, so visitors should check the “Help” menu of their browser, or go to www.allaboutcookies.org <http://www.allaboutcookies.org/> , to learn how to change cookie preferences. (n) StudentBoard™ allows advertisers that are presenting advertisements on some pages of student-board.com to download and access their cookies on visitors’ computers. Advertisers’ use of cookies is subject to their own privacy policies, not this privacy statement.
19. Age limit
No one under the age of 18 may provide any personal information to StudentBoard™ . We reserve the right to delete any personal information provided by a person under the age of 18.

1. Access to and correction of personal information
Members can access and alter their personal profiles at any time through Account Settings. Members also have rights of access to, and correction of, personal information that StudentBoard™ holds about them, and in limited circumstances they also have rights to object to processing of personal information about them, under data protection law. A member wishing to exercise any of these rights should Contact Us. Members should be aware that, if they cancel their StudentBoard™ membership, StudentBoard™ will retain some personal information about them for a reasonable period in case they wish to re-join StudentBoard™ and as a legal record of their relationship with StudentBoard™.
